Rodolfo Hernandez Giro. Sculptor and predominantly landscape painter from Santiago. 
 Rodolfo Hernandez Giro born in Santiago de Cuba, on April 18, 1881, his father was a teacher and composer from Santiago, which also loved family heirloom painting. Brother Juan Emilio Hernandez Giro also painter, and his mother's side, related to the Tejada brothers and Guillermo Collazo Tejada.

Formed in the bosom of a loving family of arts, made ​​several forays into the theater and learned flute, clarinet and guitar with his father, and on many occasions appeared with his orchestra.

He completed his early studies in Santiago de Cuba. He was forced by the war to emigrate to Haiti, received painting  and coloring lessons with Puerto Rican Ramon Frade there. On his return home he continued studies at the Municipal Academy of Fine Arts which had recently been founded under the direction of the Tejada brothers, and later, in 1907, with his brother Juan Emilio managed to continue art studies in Barcelona under the direction of artist Ricardo Martí.
